Welding

As a result of the Nuclear Submarine Condenser program we currently maintain a weld/welder and weld data collection and record system that meet the requirements of Tech Pub-278, paragraph 4.1. Evaluation of our procedure qualification weldments is conducted by our metallurgical staff at DCF’s laboratory which is fully equipped to accomplish complete metallurgical reviews. In addition DCF can provide extensive materials controls, including materials segregation and positive materials identification, as may be required by the most stringent of specifications.

DCF is qualified to ASME Section VIII Division I and Tech Pub-278. Our welding expertise includes:

  • SMAW
  • GMAW
  • GTAW
  • SAW
  • Welding up to 8″ thick
  • Dissimilar Materials Welding
  • Clad Materials
  • Autogenous Tube-to-Tubesheet Welding
  • Fully Automatic Pipe Welding
  • Twin Wire Non-Ferrous SAW
  • Corrosion Resistant Overlays

We have an established experimental welding and training laboratory which is equipped to train and test our welders and to permit fabrication of ASME and Tech Pub-248 procedure qualification samples. The Welding Technician currently trains new welders in new processes and audits their continuing capabilities.
